That second row is the one people undersell themselves on constantly. Four years in automotive or manufacturing engineering teaches you what a defect looks like on an actual line, why a false positive costs more than a false negative in that setting, and what a plant engineer will and won't put up with. You can't pick that up in a semester. Adding computer vision on top of it is a much shorter journey than a CS graduate makes learning the domain from scratch, and Pune is the best place in India to make that move.

It's first because of a number you can check, which is rare here. Ten to a batch. Get it in writing, then see for yourself on the first evening. At ten the trainer reads your code and a human marks your capstone. At forty, neither of those happens, whatever the brochure claims.

Syllabus goes from Python and classical ML through LLM application work and RAG, with enough MLOps to actually deploy something and keep it alive. Live classes, weekend batches available, and the ₹35,000 includes GST with no premium tier waiting for you halfway through. Hold that number next to the ₹1,40,000 further down before you sign anything.

Honest con: You can't walk into it. No Hinjewadi campus, nothing in Kothrud. Younger and smaller brand than the national names, no university credential attached, and what you get on careers is assistance (CV work, mock interviews, referrals) rather than a promise. It also doesn't teach the computer vision and edge deployment work Pune's manufacturing employers ask for, so if that's where you're headed, this isn't your course. Read what "100% placement" actually means before you weigh anyone's promise against this.

Best for → Working professionals anywhere in Pune who want a small live batch and a current syllabus without adding a commute to an already long day.

Prime Point Institute

Cheapest classroom option I could attach a published figure to, and roughly where serious programmes start. Python, machine learning, neural networks and NLP, taught on TensorFlow and Keras, three to six months, weekday or weekend batches. If your ceiling is around ₹60,000 and you want people in the room with you, start here.

Honest con: The page leans hard on NASSCOM and ISO certification as trust signals, and it's worth knowing what those cover. ISO certifies management processes. It says nothing about teaching quality or whether the syllabus was updated this year. An institute can be genuinely ISO certified and still be teaching 2021 material. Ask for the module list instead and check it for LLM applications, RAG, agents, evaluation and deployment. Also: this institute publishes its own "top 10 AI courses in Pune" ranking, with itself at number one. Same conflict I flag everywhere else on this page.

Best for → Budget-conscious beginners who want a classroom, a fixed schedule, and an analyst role first.

DeepLearning.AI on Coursera

Self-paced · free to roughly ₹40,000 depending on specialisation · fundamentals

If what you're missing is theory rather than domain knowledge, this is probably the highest-leverage thing on the list. Yes, it competes directly with every paid option above and below it. Ng's specialisations explain the fundamentals better than anything at any price, the newer short courses on RAG and agents and evaluation have kept up with what people are actually building, and the financial aid is real and badly under-used in India.

Try this before spending ₹1,40,000 anywhere. Give yourself a weekend. Build something small that answers questions about a few PDFs you feed it. The docs will walk you through it. If you finish and enjoy it, you'll get far more out of a structured course afterwards, because you'll turn up with real questions. If you don't finish, you've just learned something worth a lot more than the fee: you needed the accountability, and self-paced was never going to work for you.

Honest con: Finishing is entirely on you and most people never do. Nothing pulling you along, no mentor, and no connection whatsoever to hiring in Pune.

Best for → Disciplined learners filling theory gaps, before something structured or alongside it.

Technoscripts

Evening and weekend · 4 months · embedded and device-oriented · fee not published

Here because it's the closest thing I found in Pune to the manufacturing angle from section 01. The course leans towards AI for device work: machine learning, deep learning, neural networks and image models, taught in Python and R over four months. For a mechanical or electronics engineer aiming at the automotive belt, that orientation is worth more than a generic LLM syllabus.

The page also carries some unusually specific placement numbers. 402+ students placed in 2025. 13+ placement drives. 7+ walk-in drives. A 28% increase in students getting placed.

Honest con: Every one of those is a numerator. 402 out of how many enrolled? 28% up from what, over what period, in which cohort? The figures might be perfectly accurate, and that isn't the problem. Without a denominator they can't be read at all, and a denominator is precisely what nobody in this city publishes. Ask for it before you treat 402 as good news. I also couldn't find a fee on their own page, and numbers floating around on competitors' ranking posts aren't something I'll print as fact.

Best for → Engineers aiming at embedded, device or manufacturing AI, once you've got the fee and the denominator in writing.

Awdiz

Publishes its fee band openly, which at this price deserves credit, and the syllabus goes further into current territory than most of the local tier. LangChain, CrewAI, RAG, FastAPI, Docker, Streamlit, prompt work across GPT and Gemini and Claude. Six months, weekday or weekend, aimed at freshers coming in without a technical background.

Then there's the rest of the page. The banner says the institute is in Bandra and Vashi. The FAQ answering "Are there offline AI courses in Pune?" lists Vashi, Bandra, Andheri and Thane, which are all Mumbai or Navi Mumbai. The FAQ answering "Where can I find AI courses in Pune?" suggests Satara, about 110 km down the road. The hero image's alt text says Mumbai. The "Data Science Course in Pune" link in the related-programs block points at a URL ending in-mumbai. And the fee band is identical, rupee for rupee, to the one on the same institute's Delhi page.

Honest con: I don't read that as deception. It looks like one national programme published through localised templates where the localisation didn't finish. But it does tell you what you're buying, which is a national course with a city name on it rather than something built for Pune. Then the salaries. Top of the page: "up to 5 LPA for freshers." Further down: freshers earn ₹6–12 LPA and the average is ₹23.9 LPA. Near the bottom, an FAQ says the typical AI engineer in India earns ₹5,50,000 and entry-level starts at ₹3,00,000. Their own placement stories, displayed on the same page, show ₹2.5 to ₹4.6 lakh. Those can't all be right. And on the guarantee, read the clause rather than the headline. These are routinely conditional on attendance thresholds, assessment scores, application quotas, and accepting any offer above a floor the institute picks.

Best for → Freshers who want offline classes and a guarantee, and who will read a contract and ask which city's programme they're actually joining.

ExcelR

Classroom and online · Steinbeis University Germany tie-up · fee not published

The university-partnership tier in Pune. Diploma offered with Steinbeis University in Germany, alumnus status, a co-branded certificate, 50+ assignments and case studies, domain webinars, post-training career assistance. If an international credential on the CV is what you're after, that's a legitimate thing to want, and ExcelR has been teaching here for years.

Honest con: Work out what the partnership actually gives you before paying for it. A foreign university tie-up can mean a jointly designed curriculum with faculty involved, or it can mean a certificate co-brand. Ask which, in writing, and ask what employers here actually recognise it as. No published fee either, so this entry goes in without one. Get a single all-in number by email before you decide anything.

Best for → People who specifically want an international credential and will do the work of finding out what it means.

Two entries here have no fee, on purpose. Technoscripts and ExcelR don't publish one, and figures circulating on competitors' ranking posts aren't something I'll present as verified. I'm still asking, and I'll add dated numbers once they come from the institutes themselves. If you've got a written quote from either, send it over and I'll include it.

Fees: What You're Actually Paying For

Three tiers, and then one question that matters more than which tier you end up in.

Is this a Pune price, or a national price with a city name on it?

This is the thirty-second check nobody has told Pune readers to run, and it's the most useful thing on this page.

Take the institute's URL. Swap the city out. Open both pages next to each other and compare the fee, the centre addresses, the testimonials, the image captions.

I ran it on one provider and the fee band came back identical rupee for rupee across Pune and Delhi. Two cities, completely different costs of living and salary levels, same number. On top of that the Pune page listed every one of its centres in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai.

That isn't necessarily wrongdoing. National programmes sold through local landing pages are an ordinary way to run a business. But it changes what you're buying, and you should find that out before you pay rather than in week three.

Then there's the gap between the quoted fee and the paid fee. Four things turn up afterwards often enough to just expect them: GST billed separately at 18%, lab or cloud-credit charges, retake fees, and EMI interest, which at the top tier runs into five figures across a year. Insist on one number, enrolment to certificate, in writing. Our breakdown of AI course fees in India itemises the rest.

Does the Fee Make Sense? The Arithmetic Nobody Runs

No course page in this city will do this calculation for you. It takes about fifteen seconds.

Total fee, everything included. Divide by the salary that provider's own materials show its graduates actually earning. Not the aspirational number in the headline. That's the entire method.

Here's a worked example using one provider's own published figures. Their fee band tops out at ₹1,40,000. The placement stories displayed on the same page show graduates at ₹2.5, ₹3.5, ₹3.6, ₹4.2 and ₹4.6 lakh. Take the middle of that, call it ₹3.6 lakh.

The fee is around thirty-nine percent of the first year's gross. Before tax, before EMI interest.

Now run the same division against their headline instead. The same page advertises an average AI salary of ₹23.9 lakh. Against that, the fee is six percent and the course looks like a steal. Same page, same institute, two answers that differ by a factor of six depending on which of their own numbers you pick up.

That gap is the lesson. Run the ratio against what real graduates got, never against the market average the provider quotes. Market averages include people with eight years of experience. You will not be one of them in month seven.

None of this makes an expensive course a bad course. Sometimes the fee buys a credential you need, or a network, or a classroom you'll actually turn up to. What the ratio does is force the real question into the open: what am I getting for the difference? If the answer is a guarantee, go and read the clause before you accept that as an answer. Do the division for everything on your shortlist, ours included. At ₹35,000 I think it holds up. Check rather than take my word for it.

What Pune Employers Actually Hire For

This is where Pune stops looking like Bangalore, and where most course pages stop writing.

The services firms across Hinjewadi, Magarpatta and Kharadi hire in volume and promote from within far more than outsiders expect. If you're already inside one, an internal move onto an AI project is a shorter path than a cold application anywhere else, and being visible on that project counts for more than the certificate you're holding.

Product companies and GCCs hire the way Bangalore does. LLM application work, retrieval, evaluation, cost control. Fewer roles, tougher competition.

AI for mechanical and automotive engineers

Nobody else writes this section, and it's the reason a mechanical engineer in Pune has a better route into AI than a CS graduate in most other cities.

The automotive and manufacturing employers around here want computer vision for quality inspection, predictive maintenance on plant equipment, and increasingly ADAS and embedded perception work. The constraints have almost nothing in common with what a general AI course prepares you for. Model runs on a device with a fixed power budget. Latency is a hard requirement. Training data is images shot under factory lighting, which is its own field. And the output has to be defensible to a plant engineer who's going to ask why it rejected a part that was fine.

What you need, roughly in order: Python, computer vision fundamentals, model compression and quantisation, on-device deployment. What you mostly don't need is another LLM chatbot project. Ask directly, before enrolling anywhere, whether the syllabus covers computer vision and edge deployment. Most in this city don't, and the ones leaning towards embedded work are worth more to you than a better-known name that doesn't.

I'm not putting salary figures here. Trace any number circulating for Pune AI roles and it ends up at somebody's marketing page, including the one in section 07 carrying four contradictory salary claims at once. The shape is safe enough to say out loud: pay sits roughly around the national average for comparable work, product and GCC offers run above services offers, and fresher entry roles here land a good deal lower than the headline numbers suggest. What to Check Before You Enrol

Take this into any counselling session in this city, including one where we're the recommendation.

• Run the city check first. Open the same institute's page for a different city. If the fee, centres and testimonials all match, it's a national programme. Fine, but decide knowingly.
• Ask for the campus address, not the city in the page title. One "Pune" page I checked listed all four of its centres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
• Get one figure, everything inside it, by email. GST, lab fees, retakes, EMI interest. Before any money moves.
• Ask for a denominator with any placement claim. "402 students placed" means nothing without the number who enrolled. Get both, plus the roles and the salary band.
• Check the page's numbers against each other. If it says freshers earn up to ₹5 lakh in one place and ₹6–12 lakh in another, at least one wasn't checked. Assume the same care went into the syllabus.
• Ask what a certification badge actually certifies. ISO covers management process. Industry-body membership covers membership. Neither tells you the syllabus was updated this year.
• If there's a guarantee, get the clause, not the summary. Read the eligibility conditions, the offer-acceptance terms, and what happens if it fails. Often the remedy is more training rather than your money back.
• Search the syllabus for 2026 vocabulary: LLM applications, RAG, agents, evaluation, deployment. Aiming at manufacturing? Add computer vision and edge deployment to that list.
• On EMI, ask who the lender is and what happens to the loan if you drop out. The course can end. The loan doesn't.
• Find an alumnus on LinkedIn yourself. The one the counsellor produces isn't a random sample.

And if the pitch ends with paying tonight because tomorrow the price goes up, you've learned everything you needed to know about how they operate.
