Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect very little, and the one thing we do share — your details with up to three training providers — happens only if you tick the box asking us to. Nothing is shared behind your back.

Who we are

TrueDirectory is a sole proprietorship based in New Delhi, India. We are the data controller for the information described on this page. You can reach us at listings@truedirectory.co or +91 97738 21756.

What we collect

When you email or call us. If you contact us to list a business, request a correction or ask a question, we hold your message and contact details for as long as it takes to deal with it, plus a reasonable period for our own records. We do not add you to a mailing list because you emailed us.

When you request a callback. The counselling form on our guides collects your name, mobile number, email, whether you are studying or working, and the course you are asking about. We also record which guide you sent it from, because that is what tells the counsellor what you were reading before you asked.

We use it for two things, and we would rather be blunt about the second than have it be a surprise when your phone rings:

  • Our counsellor calls you to talk through the options, including the free and cheaper routes where those genuinely fit.
  • We introduce you to up to three relevant training providers, who pay us for that introduction. They will call you too. This is how the counselling service is funded — we do not charge you for it, and the providers do.

Three is a hard cap, not a guideline. Your number is never sold to a list, never passed to a data broker, and never sent to a provider who is not relevant to the course you asked about. The twenty-calls-in-a-day experience that this market is known for is specifically what the cap exists to prevent.

None of this happens unless you tick the consent box on the form, which is never pre-ticked. We record the exact wording you agreed to and the time you agreed to it. You can withdraw consent at any point — email listings@truedirectory.co and we stop, and will tell the providers we introduced you to that you have withdrawn. We cannot un-ring a phone that has already rung, but we can stop the next one.

If you would rather have the advice without the introductions, do not use the form — email or call us directly and say so. You will get the same guidance, and nothing is passed on.

Analytics. We use standard web analytics to see which guides get read and where readers give up. That involves aggregate data — pages viewed, approximate region, device type, referring site. We do not attempt to identify individual readers and we do not build advertising profiles.

Our tools. The salary calculator runs entirely in your browser. The figures you type are never sent to us or stored anywhere on our servers.

When you buy something. If you purchase a sponsorship, we collect your business name, your name, billing address, email, phone number, GSTIN if you give us one, and the logo and artwork you send us for the placement. We need these to run the advertisement, raise a valid invoice and meet our tax obligations.

Payment information

We never see, ask for or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net banking credentials. You pay us by direct bank transfer or UPI from your own banking app, so those credentials never leave your hands.

What we receive from our bank for each payment, and store, is limited to:

  • The transaction reference (UTR or UPI transaction ID) and your invoice number
  • The amount, currency and date
  • The payer name and the bank account or UPI ID the payment came from
  • The billing name and contact details on your order

That is enough to match the payment to your invoice, answer a query about it and send a refund back to the same account. It is not enough to take money from your account, and we could not do so even if we wanted to.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal data to list brokers, data aggregators, or anyone who is not a training provider directly relevant to what you asked about.
  • We do not share anything at all unless you asked us to. Emailing or calling us does not put you into the introduction service — only the consent box on the callback form does that, and it is never pre-ticked.
  • We do not exceed the three-provider cap, and we do not re-share your details months later to a new provider because a fresh lead was worth money that week.
  • We do not run retargeting pixels or behavioural advertising networks.
  • We do not use the artwork or business details you send us for a sponsorship for any purpose other than running that placement.

Who we share data with

Only where it is necessary, and never for marketing. The complete list:

  • Up to three training providers, if you consented on the callback form — your name, mobile, email, whether you are studying or working, and the course you asked about. They pay us for the introduction and become responsible for your data once they hold it, under their own privacy policies. We require them to contact you only about the subject you enquired about, and we drop providers who ignore that.
  • Our bank, which processes the payments you send us and any refunds we make.
  • Our accountant and the tax authorities, for invoices and statutory filings.
  • Our email and hosting providers, who process data on our instructions in order to run the service.
  • A law enforcement or regulatory body, where we are legally required to. We will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and callback requests: up to 24 months after the conversation ends, or immediately on request once we have spoken.
  • Invoices, payment records and tax documents: 8 years, because Indian tax law requires it. We cannot delete these on request during that period.
  • Sponsorship artwork and campaign records: for the run of the placement plus 3 years, so we can evidence what was published and when.
  • Analytics: aggregate only, retained per our analytics provider's standard settings.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to customer records is limited to people who need it to do their job, and customer records are held in access-controlled storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we would rather say that than claim otherwise — but the most sensitive data of all, your payment credentials, is never in our hands to lose.

Cookies

We use only what the site needs to function plus the analytics described above. There is no advertising cookie on this site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; nothing on TrueDirectory will stop working if you do.

Links to other sites

Our guides link out to training providers, colleges and businesses. Once you follow one of those links you are on their site, under their privacy policy, not ours. We have no control over what they collect — which is a good reason to read their policy before handing over your phone number.

Your data, your call

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy in a portable format. Email listings@truedirectory.co and we will action it within 30 days. You do not need to give a reason. The one exception is financial records we are legally required to retain, as set out above.

Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, our Grievance Officer is:

Grievance Officer
TrueDirectory, New Delhi, India
listings@truedirectory.co

Complaints are acknowledged within 48 hours and resolved within 30 days.

Children

This site is aimed at adults choosing courses and services. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not quietly broaden what we collect and hope nobody notices.
