If you run a training institute in India, you have probably been called by three directories this month, each promising enquiries. This guide is the answer to the question underneath that call: where is a listing actually worth your time, what does each platform really give you, and what should you refuse to pay for.
Two disclosures before anything else. TrueDirectory is a directory, so we are one of the options on this page and we have an obvious interest in you choosing us. We have not put ourselves first, and we have named the platforms that will reach more people than we currently do. Read the entry on us with exactly the scepticism you would apply to a sales call.
First, what a directory listing is actually worth
A listing is not marketing. It is a citation: a public record that your business exists, at this address, doing this thing, reachable this way. That record does two jobs. It puts you in front of someone already searching for what you teach, and it feeds the consistency signals that local search uses to decide you are real.
What it will not do is fill a batch on its own. Any platform that pitches a listing as a lead machine is selling you something else, usually a paid package. The honest expectation is a slow trickle of enquiries from people who were already looking, plus a small improvement in how confidently search engines can identify you.
That reframing matters because it changes what you should optimise for. You are not buying leads. You are building a set of accurate, consistent records. Which means the free ones done properly beat the paid ones done carelessly.
The general directories
Google Business Profile
Do this one first, before you read the rest of this page. It is free, it is run by the search engine your students actually use, and it is the only listing on this page that can put you on the map result for "AI course near me". Nothing else here substitutes for it.
It also demands the most upkeep: photos, hours, and replies to reviews. An abandoned profile with three old reviews and no response is worse than a well-kept one, because prospective students read it.
JustDial
The largest general local directory in India, and the one most likely to have called you already. A basic listing is free. Paid packages exist and are sold hard, so decide your budget before the call rather than during it.
Be clear about what you are buying if you do pay: JustDial's model routes enquiries to several providers at once, which means you are frequently competing on price at the point of contact. That suits some institutes and is corrosive for others.
IndiaMART
Primarily a B2B marketplace. It carries education categories and it has genuine search visibility, but the buying behaviour it is built around is procurement rather than a student choosing a course. Worth a free listing if you sell corporate training. Lower priority if your intake is individual learners.
Sulekha
Local services with a lead-generation model. The same caution applies as with JustDial: understand whether you are buying a listing or a stream of shared leads, and what a lead costs before you commit. Ask what happens to your spend in a month when enquiries are low.
The long tail: TradeIndia, Grotal, Asklaila, Hotfrog and similar
These appear on every "top 100 free listing sites" article, and that is roughly their value: they are quick, free citations that cost you an afternoon. Do not expect enquiries from them. Do them in one sitting, with identical details each time, and then stop thinking about them.
The education-specific platforms
These reach a narrower audience that is already looking for training, which usually converts better than a general directory. Verify current terms with each directly, because the education listing market changes its commercial model often and we would rather you check than take our word for it.
Collegedunia
Large education aggregator with real search visibility, covering colleges and coaching institutes. The reach is genuine. The trade-off is that you are one entry in a very large database, and the pages are built for breadth rather than for making any single institute look distinct.
FindMyGuru
A tutor and institute marketplace positioned around verified profiles: courses, faculty, ratings and outcomes. If your differentiator is teaching quality rather than price, a platform that surfaces faculty detail is a better fit than a general directory.
CoachingKhojo
Lists coaching institutes with fees and contact details, weighted towards competitive-exam preparation. If you teach entrance coaching it is squarely relevant; if you teach professional tech skills it is a looser fit.
IndiaEducation.net and Skoodos
Both are established education portals that carry institute listings organised by course and exam category. Neither is likely to transform your intake, and both are reasonable free citations within an education-specific context.
TrueDirectory
This site. Listing is free, there is no subscription, and position is never sold. What that means in practice is that you cannot pay us to rank above a competitor, and neither can they.
What we ask for is the thing most of this market will not publish: a real, all-in price. Providers who quote a fee openly get described that way in our guides, and on a page where the other entries say "contact for details" that is a genuine advantage. Listings marked Verified are editorial picks whose details we have checked, and that status cannot be bought.
Where we are weaker. We are a young site. Google Business Profile, JustDial and Collegedunia will each put you in front of more people than we currently can, and it is not close. If you have time for exactly one listing this week, it should be Google, not us. We are worth doing when you want a listing that argues your case rather than one that files you in a database, and when you are willing to be compared on a published fee.
How to get listed on TrueDirectory sets out what we ask for and what we will not do.

What to check before you list anywhere
- Is position for sale? Ask directly. A directory that sells rank is an advertising channel, which is fine, but price it as advertising rather than as a listing.
- What exactly does a "lead" mean? On lead-gen platforms, get it in writing: is it exclusive to you, or shared with four competitors? What counts as a billable lead? A wrong number often does.
- Can you edit your own listing? If changing your fee requires an email and a wait, your listing will be wrong within a quarter.
- What happens when you stop paying? Some platforms downgrade a paid listing to something worse than the free tier you would have had.
- Is the traffic real? Ask what a listing like yours received last quarter. Vague answers are answers.
The order to do this in
Google Business Profile first, properly, with photos and real hours. Then two or three education-specific platforms where your students actually are. Then the free general directories in one sitting, with identical name, address and phone details across every one, because inconsistency is what breaks the citation signal you are doing this for.
Pay for nothing in the first month. Once you can see which platforms sent real enquiries, you will know where a paid tier is worth testing, and you will be negotiating with evidence rather than a sales script.
One last thing worth saying plainly, because it is the mistake we see most: a directory listing cannot fix an unclear offer. If your own website does not say what a course costs, who it is for and what happens at the end of it, no listing anywhere on this page will rescue that. Fix the page you control first.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free to list a training institute in India?+
On most of the major platforms, yes, at the basic tier. Google Business Profile is free outright. JustDial, IndiaMART and Sulekha all have free listing tiers with paid packages sold on top. TrueDirectory is free with no paid tier at all. The education-specific platforms vary and change their commercial models fairly often, so confirm current terms with each directly rather than trusting any list, including this one.
Which listing should I do first?+
Google Business Profile, without exception, and do it properly rather than quickly. It is free, it is the only listing that puts you on the map result for searches like "AI course near me", and nothing else on this page substitutes for it. Fill in photos, real opening hours and services, and reply to reviews. An abandoned profile actively costs you enquiries, because prospective students read it before they call.
Do directory listings actually bring student enquiries?+
A trickle, from people who were already searching. A listing is a citation rather than a marketing campaign, and any platform pitching it as a lead machine is selling you a paid package. The realistic return is a small, steady flow of enquiries plus better consistency signals for local search. That is worth an afternoon of free listings; it is not worth a large monthly retainer until you have evidence a specific platform works for you.
Should I pay for a premium listing?+
Not in the first month. Do the free tiers, wait, and see which platforms actually sent enquiries. Then you are negotiating with evidence instead of a sales script. Before paying anything, get in writing whether leads are exclusive or shared, what counts as a billable lead, and what happens to your listing when you stop paying — some platforms downgrade you below the free tier you would otherwise have had.
Does TrueDirectory charge for a listing or for ranking?+
Neither. Listing is free, there is no subscription, and position is never sold — you cannot pay to rank above a competitor and neither can they. The single paid slot anywhere on the site is a banner clearly labelled Sponsored, which buys page space and never a rank. Listings marked Verified are editorial picks whose details we have checked, and that status is not purchasable.
Want a listing that argues your case?
TrueDirectory lists training institutes free, with no paid ranking and no subscription. We ask for one thing most of this market will not give: a real, all-in price.
